The Scallop on Aldeburgh beach at dawn

Description

The Scallop, a sculpture on the Suffolk Coast arrived on Aldeburgh beach in 2003, Maggi Hambling designed the artwork which has attracted controversy.

The sculpture was set up to commemorate Benjamin Britten and displays a quote from Britten’s Peter Grimes ‘I hear those voices that will not be drowned’.

Aldeburgh is a coastal town in Suffolk, north of the River Alde.
